What does Hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis feels like a pleasant lethargy, when your limbs feel heavy, disinclined to move. When the mind drifts in easy relaxation, or turns its attention to ideas in new, constructive ways, warm, comfortable serenity. In good quality hypnosis, the conscious mind is in neutral gear and so the sub—conscious comes to the fore, for your protection. Just as it does in normal sleep. However, you remain totally aware of everything, whereas when sleeping, outside events have to awaken you so that you become aware of them. Just as a mother is around when her baby calls, yet ignores louder, unimportant sounds. In hypnosis, the critical facilities are reduced, suggestibility greatly increased. The mind is in a state where it is much more receptive to new learnings, to new ideas, to new patterns. Your mind is always there to guard you from any danger, you may block some things out, just as you do anyway in day to day living, because you are so focused on the pleasant relaxing experience.

Movember 2014 – Check www.mobro.co/hypnosleepin

It’s the 24th of #Movember 2014, almost time to shave the moustache again. As you may know, the Movember Foundation is the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health. This work is saving and improving the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.

The Movember Foundation challenges men to grow moustaches during Movember (formerly known as November), to spark conversation and raise vital funds for its men’s health programs. To date, 4 million moustaches have been grown worldwide, but it won’t stop growing as long as serious men’s health issues exist.

You can have a look at my moustache progress at www.mobro.co/hypnosleepin, and you can donate to the Movember foundation there.

The rest of this blog is going to be a video blog!

Hypnosis Removal Of Belief About Parking

Have you ever been in a parking lot, and just couldn’t see a space anywhere? And then you drove around and around, until you spotted somebody pulling out, and hopefully you got the space before someone else. This is a typical experience for many people.

Our unconscious minds are very powerful. After all it has to keep on top of all the automatic functions of our mind and body. It likes to keep doing the same thing. You are here today, reading this, alive and well because of your unconscious mind.

Logically, what worked in the past will keep on working in the future, won’t it! And that’s a very useful state of mind for hunter gatherers, and even agrarian societies. Our unconscious minds monitor everything that’s going on around you, everything in your peripheral vision. All the sounds in the background. All the sensations that every part of your body is feeling. All the tastes and smells.

Your unconscious mind has to then determine what is important at that moment, and send that information to your conscious mind. It filters out everything else that it determines is unimportant.

Your unconscious mind is usually happy to do what your conscious mind directs, but it is always aware of everything for your protection. It will override your conscious mind if there is a perceived danger. You could be consciously walking along, looking at the flowers and the people along the way, and your unconscious happily goes along with that, until it spots a rabid dog with mad red glaring eyes running in your direction. It will quickly snap your body into a state of fight/flight and move you into action!

At a less urgent level than survival, your unconscious mind will determine what to send to your conscious mind based on your conscious and unconscious beliefs. If you ever bought a car, suddenly you start noticing that model and colour of car everywhere. Did they just magically pop into existence when you bought your car? No, it’s just that your unconscious mind isn’t filtering them out any more, and so you notice them all now.

Your unconscious mind wants to do everything you ask of it. It takes you literally. It treats beliefs as commands. I used to have a limiting belief that “I can never find parking spaces”. I used to even affirm that to myself, while driving around a car park, “I can never find a parking space”, often with a bit of strongly emphasised spicy language in there too. Occasionally, the car park would be half empty, and I’d see a parking spot then.

Then I read somewhere that this is a very common limiting belief. Note that I wasn’t even aware I had this belief, it was an unconscious limiting belief. I used self hypnosis combined with timeline therapy to get rid of the limiting belief, and now have a new belief where I fully expect to find a parking space, and I (almost!) always do.

It’s humourous to see other drivers looking very hard for a driving space, and driving past one and then going around again. Their unconscious mind is following the limiting belief command, and filtering out the parking space from their awareness.

“That used to be me, I think.” You may have noticed that I also cleared out that limiting belief that “It’s bad to be smug”, and replaced it with “It’s OK to be humourously satisfied with your Self Hypnosis ability!” You too can use the Hypnotic Sleep In Course to learn Self Hypnosis.

A Personal Example Of Using Hypnosis To Stop Bleeding

Self Hypnosis is a very powerful and useful skill. You can learn how to put yourself into hypnotic trance, and then practice giving yourself suggestions to achieve all sorts of incredible physical phenomena. Examples of some of the most common types of self suggestion under hypnosis are:

• Concentration Enhancement to speed up learning
• Self analgesia and Anesthesia
• Mood/body feeling management
• Motivation
• And many more, limited only by your imagination

There are many Dentists who have learned how to use hypnosis, and use it with their patients to ease anxiety and for anaesthesia and analgesia. They are usually obliged call it medical relaxation, or some other more socially “acceptable” name. If you read the hypnotic literature, you will come across many examples of where the Dentist says to their patient something like the following after they have suggested that there will be no bleeding during a tooth extraction:

“OK, Mr./Ms.  Patient, I would like it if you were to bleed just a little bit, enough to flush out the socket, and then stop after the socket is full, so a good blood clot will form, and you keep the piece of gauze clamped over it afterwards”.

One day, I was fixing my computer, and I cut my right index finger quite severely on a sharp piece of metal on the inside of the computer case. It was very annoying, because I needed to use the finger for some delicate work inside the computer, so a bandage would get in the way. I didn’t particularly want to get splatters of blood inside the computer either, as I don’t think that would have enhanced its chances of working well. The cut was quite a significant one that would usually have taken several minutes to clot without a plaster or gauze.

I calmed down, put myself into a hypnotic trance. I asked my unconscious mind to get ready to stop the bleeding, like turning off a tap, and then go ahead and stop the bleeding before lifting the yes finger. I waited, and after a few moments, my unconscious mind lifted the yes finger. There was a bead of blood at the location of the cut. I washed it under a tap, and dried it. The blood welled to just the skin level, and stopped. I squeezed the finger, and the blood welled up into a bead, and stopped. It’s one thing reading about this, and another experiencing it in reality! I was so delighted with my unconscious mind that I forgot about fixing the computer for a bit. By the time I remembered, it had a good clot, and I was able to get the job done, blood smear free.
